Unit 1: Context and Meaning

Section A: Questions requiring short and restricted responses. Also a comparative essay based on one poem from the WJEC anthology and one unseen poem. Section B: Extended writing response question (a choice of one of two) - creative literary or non-fiction writing.

Task A: A written essay based on your class novel. You need to learn linguistic and literary approaches to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the whole text. The theme of BELONGING is present when discussing characters and setting.

Task B: A creative non-fiction writing response informed by ideas and opinions gained from your reading of texts from Task A.
