Technique Mastery
DAFOREST Techniques and More!
The Technique Mastery module is the "engine room" of the Language course. Instead of just "feature spotting," students learn to analyze a writer’s craft and intentionality. Core Focus: Linguistic & Structural Tools: Deep dives into word-level analysis and the "skeleton" of a text. Effect Over Identification: Moving from "what" to "why"—explaining the psychological impact on the reader. Interactive Learning: Tools like the Technique Highlighter, Structural Slider, and Tone-Shifter make invisible mechanics visible. Exam Ready: Master AO2 skills (Language/Structure) for AQA, Edexcel, and WJEC. The Goal: Stop finding clues; start explaining the writer's motive. 💪🕵️♂️
Different Text Types
Lovely Letters, Super Speeches, Awesome Articles and More!
The Format & Genre module is the "chameleon" skill of the course—teaching students how to adapt their reading and writing to any style, from 19th-century prose to modern political speeches. Core Focus: The Non-Fiction Spectrum: Mastering the "rules" of articles, letters, speeches, and reviews. The TAP Method: A foolproof way to identify Type, Audience, and Purpose in under 60 seconds. Voice & Register: Learning when to be formal and "high-brow" vs. relatable and colloquial. Comparison Skills: Expertly comparing texts from different centuries (essential for AQA and WJEC). Interactive Features: The Format Flip-Tool: See one story instantly rewritten as a speech, a letter, or a blog post. Layout Blueprints: Interactive checklists so you never forget a headline or a sign-off. The Style-O-Meter: Practice identifying if a text is satirical, emotive, or instructional. The Goal: Master the "skeleton" of writing. If the format is wrong, you're leaving marks on the table. 🕵️♂️💪
Reading Questions - Staggered Release over March 2026
Reading Skills at the Ready!
The Reading Skills module turns students into "text detectives," moving them from basic skimming to deep interrogation. 🕵️♂️ Core Focus: Deep Inference: Learn to read "between the lines" and uncover subtext. Evaluation & Synthesis: Build the confidence to argue with a text and summarize multiple sources. 3-Tier Analysis: Master the shift from what is said to what is meant and why it matters. Interactive Features: The Inference Engine: Reveal "hidden meanings" in real-time. The Source Splitter: Compare two texts side-by-side effortlessly. Point-Evidence-Check: Build structured arguments, not just quote lists. The Goal: Stop just reading stories; start cracking the code. 👊💪
Writing Tasks - Staggered Release over March 2026
Bring the Cheese Please!
The Creative Writing module turns students from critics into creators. Since writing usually accounts for 50% of the total GCSE marks, we focus on precision, flair, and impact. ✍️🚀 Core Focus: Show, Don’t Tell: Master sensory details to create atmosphere instead of just listing adjectives. Structural Hooks: Learn "cyclical" endings, flashbacks, and the "zoom-in/zoom-out" technique to grip readers. SPaG for Impact: Use punctuation and grammar as tools to control pace and tension. Character Construction: Reveal personality through action and dialogue rather than stereotypes. Interactive Features: The Prompt Generator: Dynamic images and "first lines" to kill writer's block instantly. 💡 The Sensory Map: Clickable scenes that provide "word banks" of high-level verbs and metaphors. Structure Architect: A drag-and-drop tool to map out the perfect narrative arc. The Goal: Move beyond "purple prose" and start writing with professional technical control. 💪👊
Exam Preparation - Full Release in April 2026
Let's Ease Ourselves in to this GCSE
The Exam Prep module turns skills into a strategic machine. While Literature is about memory, Language is about agility and timing. ⏱️⚙️ Core Focus: The Three Ts: Mastering Timing, Technique, and Triage so you never leave high-mark questions unfinished. Mark-per-Minute Mastery: Knowing exactly how much effort to give a 4-mark question vs. a 20-mark evaluation. The Examiner’s Lens: Learning to spot the "hooks" in a text that are designed to be analyzed. The SPaG Safety Net: A 2-minute proofreading system to protect your grade boundary. Interactive Features: The Virtual Proctor: A pacer timer that alerts you when it’s time to move to the next question. 🔔 Annotation Race: A high-speed game to find as many techniques as possible in 2 minutes. Success Criteria Checklists: Digital rubrics to check your answers against AQA, WJEC, or Edexcel requirements. The Goal: Be "efficiently brilliant." Don't just do the work—beat the clock. 👊💪
